Chiropractic care involves treatment that helps the body to heal without drugs and surgery. Chiropractic adjustments to the spine and other joints help to restore normal movement and allow muscles, joints and nerves to function normally.
What is a chiropractic adjustment? Chiropractic adjustments help to normalize proper movement of the spine and other joints of the body. Your treatment consists of chiropractic adjustments to the joints of the spine and extremities, and may also include stretching of the muscles and tissues, mobilization of the joints and exercises to help stabilize your area of complaint. This series of treatments function to return the body to its natural motion and is aimed at breaking the pain cycle and restoring function to the joints, muscles and nerves of the body. What does chiropractic treat? Chiropractic therapy is often associated with back-related injuries. Chiropractic also has a full range of treatments for headaches, sciatica, whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, elbow pain and hip pain.
Who can benefit from chiropractic care? Chiropractic care can improve everyone's life. Children, pregnant women, adults and senior citizens can reap the benefits of chiropractic care. Treatments are based on your individual problem, health history and goal for therapy. I successfully treat a wide range of complaints ranging from chronic neck tension, injuries, arthritis, and repetitive injuries, just to name a few. Are there other treatments besides the adjustment? Besides chiropractic adjustments to the spine, your treatment may include ice or heat, electrical muscle stimulation, stretching, exercise and rehabilitation to normalize the correct movement of your spine and other joints of the body. I may also recommend a course of massage therapy, exercise, dietary changes and an addition of vitamins or supplements to assist in your recovery or improve your overall health.
What can I expect on my first and second visit? The first visit typically takes 45 minutes to an hour. After you complete your patient paperwork, Dr. Cooley will review your health history and the reason for your visit. Next, she will examine and treat you for your condition with a chiropractic adjustment. If necessary, she may refer you for x-rays or other diagnostic testing. During your second visit, Dr. Cooley will answer any questions and review her findings and recommend a course of therapy tailored to your needs. |
